Candidate Statement

As a physical therapist with over 25 years of experience and a private practice owner for 15 years, I am deeply committed to advancing the APTA Private Practice Section as a candidate for the Nominating Committee. My journey in physical therapy has been one of passion, growth, and dedication to our profession’s core values—integrity, innovation, collaboration, and passion. These values guide my practice and my vision for PPS, and I am eager to help identify and elevate leaders who will propel our section forward.

My involvement with APTA Private Practice began in 2009 at the “How to Start Your Own Private Practice” course, followed by my first APTA Private Practice meeting at the Broadmoor in Colorado. That experience ignited my passion for the Section. Since then, I’ve served the Key Contact Subcommittee for the past 5 years, where I’ve built connections with colleagues nationwide. These relationships have allowed me to observe the diverse strengths of our members and identify what they bring to leadership roles. Additionally, I recently completed a term on the APTA Private Practice Annual Conference Work Group Committee, collaborating with inspiring individuals to deliver impactful events. These roles have honed my ability to recognize leadership potential and foster collaboration skills I’ll leverage to identify candidates who embody PPS’s mission.

The Nominating Committee’s role is critical to APTA Private Practice's future. We must identify leaders who not only fill roles but elevate them, bringing fresh perspectives and unwavering commitment to our core values. Integrity drives ethical leadership; passion fuels advocacy; innovation sparks progress; and collaboration builds a stronger community. My experience assessing team dynamics in my practice has taught me to recognize these qualities in others. I’ve seen firsthand how aligning talent with a shared vision transforms organizations, and I’m committed to applying this approach to APTA Private Practice.

As a committee member, I will diligently assess current and potential leaders, identifying those who can advance our mission. I’ll draw on my nationwide connections to tap candidates who bring diverse strengths, ensuring our board reflects the passion and innovation needed to thrive. My goal is to nominate individuals who won’t settle for mediocrity but will push APTA Private Practice to new heights, fostering a vibrant, forward-thinking organization.

Serving on the Nominating Committee is an opportunity to give back to the organization that has shaped my career. I’m driven by a desire to see private practice PTs succeed and to ensure our section remains a beacon of excellence. With my experience, passion, and commitment to collaboration, I’m ready to help select leaders who will carry PPS forward with integrity and vision. Thank you for considering me for this role—I’m excited to contribute to our shared future.
