Advocacy continues for meaningful Medicare payment reform as APTA advances a coordinated strategy across Congress and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Recent developments signal growing recognition that the current payment system must evolve to support providers and protect patient access.

Further opportunities lie ahead, including the 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule expected to be released in early July. Member engagement will remain critical as APTA prepares to respond and address ongoing inadequacies in the system.

APTA's advocacy work to advance payment policies that support practice sustainability and patient access continues with the upcoming APTA Payment Advocacy Summit, ongoing advocacy webinars, and expanded resources through the State Payment Advocacy Resource Consortium, or SPARC, helping members to effectively navigate today's complex payer environment.

Together, engaged members and sustained advocacy are driving meaningful reform and strengthening the future of the profession.
