Opportunity to Help Advance the Future of Physical Therapy Education
Submitted on Tue, 04/07/2026 - 09:10
APTA Private Practice is a participating organization in the Collaborative for Physical Therapy Education, a multi-organizational effort convened by APTA to advance the aims of A Vision for Excellence in Physical Therapy Education.
As part of this work, the Collaborative has launched pillar-based sub-communities focused on priority areas shaping the future of physical therapy education—and, ultimately, practice. We are seeking interested and engaged members to represent APTA Private Practice in one or more of the following pillar areas:
- Accessibility of Education
- Collaboration and Networks
Who Should Consider This Opportunity?
We are looking for members who:
- Have a genuine interest—or passion—for advancing education in physical therapy in one of the pillars identified
- Bring an academic, clinical, research, or systems-level perspective
- Are willing to engage in discussion and share insights through the lens of APTA Private Practice
- Are interested in professional growth, networking, and contributing to work with national impact
What Does Participation Involve?
- Participating in periodic virtual discussions within a pillar-focused sub-community
- Reviewing shared resources and identifying gaps or opportunities
- Communicating insights and opportunities back to APTA Private Practice
- Helping connect our organization’s work to broader, profession-wide efforts
Members are not expected to represent personal views, nor to participate in pillars that do not align with their interests or expertise.
Why This Matters
The vision guiding this work is focused on advancing physical therapy education across the learner continuum to meet societal health needs and optimize patient and client outcomes. By engaging in this effort, members have an opportunity to influence how education evolves—and how it supports the future of practice.
We encourage interested members to familiarize themselves with A Vision for Excellence in Physical Therapy Education, available open access through the Journal of Physical Therapy Education.
