Candidate Statement

I am honored to announce my candidacy for the position of Treasurer for APTA Private Practice. With a deep dedication to our profession and extensive experience in both clinical, leadership and finance rolls, I am eager to bring my skills and vision to this important position.

Current Practice and Involvement

I am the Co-founder and Co-CEO at ACCESS PT, a practice I launched in 2003 alongside my brother, wife, and sister-in-law. Over the past two decades, we have expanded to 60 locations across four states and secured a hospital contract with three additional locations. In my current role, I oversee the vision, culture, and growth of our team and company as we continue to have a greater impact in the communities we are blessed to serve. I work closely with our team to ensure that we deliver high-quality care while maintaining financial stability.

Qualifications and Background

I have had the privilege of serving on the Finance Committee for almost 12 years through my career (four 3-year terms). During this time, I have been mentored by and learned from many different Treasurers and Executive Directors. My experience, passion, and long-standing commitment to financial transparency and accountability has equipped me with the skills necessary to serve as your Treasurer. Drawing on my experience and the wisdom of past Treasurers, I am prepared to address the most critical issues facing APTA Private Practice in the coming years.

Critical Issues and Strategic Solutions

The next three years present significant opportunities and challenges for APTA Private Practice. If elected, I will focus on the following critical issues:

  1. Financial Stability and Growth: Ensuring the financial health and member value of the section is paramount. I will implement robust systems to monitor our fiscal position, improve financial reporting for better clarity, and maximize the return on investment for every member.
  2. Advocacy and Reimbursement: The landscape of healthcare reimbursement is continually evolving, and it is crucial that the section remains at the forefront of advocacy efforts. I will work to strengthen our lobbying efforts to secure strong reimbursement rates and reduce regulatory burdens that hinder private practice growth. I will also strive to work with the board to share state practice act and reimbursement wins and strategies to other states to learn and win from.
  3. Member Support and Development: Providing resources and support to our members is essential for their success. I will advocate for enhanced educational programs, marketing support, and tools that help practices navigate challenges and seize opportunities. My own experience of growing ACCESS PT from a small startup, doing billing out of my basement, to a thriving multi-state practice has given me valuable insights that I am eager to share.
  4. Innovation and Technology: Embracing technological advancements can significantly enhance our practice operations and patient care. I will support initiatives that promote the adoption of innovative technologies and best practices, ensuring that our members are well-equipped to meet the demands of modern healthcare.
  5. Membership Priorities: I will listen and use member surveys to understand the most pressing issues for your practices. By strongly advocating for budgeting and resources around the priorities that are most important to our membership, I will ensure that APTA Private Practice remains responsive and supportive of our members' needs.

In conclusion, my extensive experience in clinical practice, financial management, and strategic planning, coupled with my long-standing commitment to the section, make me well-qualified to serve as your Treasurer. I am dedicated to fostering financial stability, advocating for fair policies, and providing robust support to our members.

I humbly ask for your support and vote in this election. Together, we can ensure the continued growth and success of our section and profession, empowering us to provide exceptional care to our patients as we advance the practice of physical therapy.

Thank you for considering my candidacy.
